Those who still moan about the prices of optical mice do not certainly know the mouse by Dexxa company, because this mouse presents a relatively cheap alternative for a price not higher than 1000,-Kč. So, it proudly applies for being a substitute for a classical ball mouse.
Besides the two standard buttons and a scroll button (can also work as a middle button) there are another two - side buttons - used for moving in Internet pages or they can also be programmed by help of supplied drivers.
As in case of the Genius mouse the picture pad didn't stand our test, the movements on its surface are not so precise, so a one-colour pad is recommended (a white pad is the best solution).

Design and shape

The mouse can be used by right-handers and left-handers, as well. Thanks the optics it is very lightweight, though this property you will not exploit too much, unfortunately. When you lift up the classical mouse it stops functioning - so does the optical sensor of the optical mouse.
The mouse is specially round-shaped, so it sometimes happened to me that when I lifted it up a little bit it fell out of my hand or I touched the side buttons by mistake. The more square-shaped Genius mouse was a little better for me to handle (maybe it is a matter of habit gained from the previously used mice).

Drivers

Drivers for all operating systems (from DOS to Windows 2000) belong to the accessories. Those who would expect some marked improvements in comparison with classical drivers or those who look for some functions as for Easy Jump (present in Genius Netscroll) will be disappointed. The drivers enable you an easy and practical configuration of the mouse buttons. For example, you can set up the sensitivity of double-click or the sensitivity of the scroll button for moving in documents.

Some notes to drivers and possible complaints of optical mice

Needless to say, the tests cannot find possible shortcomings of the drivers or their behavior in different operating systems; in case of such problems I recommend to try if there are some more recent drivers available in Internet or to use the drivers supplied with a similar mouse made by another producer (Logitech, MS Intellipoint,...). You will not probably avoid the problems, but you can find out if the particular problem is in the driver or in your mouse. In my opinion, the original drivers by Dexxa are completely suitable.
It is interesting (but certainly in conflict with the license terms) that for the Dexxa mouse you can also use drivers and software made by Genius company, than the EasyJump function works, too. Similarly we tested drivers from mice made by Microsoft.
