Network Settings and login

Network configuration - 1. Icon network in network panel or 2. Click right button on icon My Network Places located on desktop and select Properties

Short description of the main panel

Configuration - Configuration of particular components for the network
Identification - Data necessary for identification of the computer in the network
Access Control - Distinction of rights on user's and sharing level
Add.. - Addition of network components. After pushing the button you'll get the possibility to choose the network component you want to add. After having chosen the component you can choose of Windows drivers ranked by producers or to add the component from a diskette or CD.
Remove - Removing of chosen network components
Properties - Configuration of the chosen network component.
Primary Network Logon - Primary options to logon (e. g. to define if the logon accomplishes first to Microsoft or to Windows)
File and Print Sharing - defining the resources that are able to be shared by other users (local disks and printers).

Software client providing connection to another computers. Designated for different ways of connection and different kinds of networks.

Microsoft Family Logon

Easy logon - enough to choose the user using the mouse and enter the password
In case of entering "For access from Windows the network confirmation required" it is possible to limit the access to computer for authorized users only. (Check on the local computer registry using poledit program)
Another users you can add using "Users" icon in the control panel.

Windows Logon

Logon using name and password
Entering "For access from Windows the network confirmation required" does not affect computer logon. It is the logon to Computer and Windows system, not to the network. Easy just to choose "Cancel" and you can work with Windows.
You do not have to add another user - enough just to enter the name and the password of the new user.
Combination with Microsoft network logon depends on the primary network logon definition. In case of primary logon setting into Windows and "network access required" setting in the registers it is possible to get into the computer in case of power failure.

After "For access from Windows the network confirmation required" is valid setting no. 2 (Log on to Windows NT Domain).
You do not have to add another user - enough just to enter the name and the password of the new user. For using the network resources confirming by server the name and the password must accord with the database of the users on the server. In case the name doesn't pass, some network resources cannot be used.

After "For access from Windows the network confirmation required" setting you´re losing the possibility to use network facilities without server confirmation and in combination with "client of the Microsoft network" primary network logon setting the access to the computer is limited also in case of power failure.
Users are added directly on the server in the network .

Another possibilities of configuration you can get using Properties button in the main panel for network or double click on Microsoft network client.

Logon validation - By checking you set up the necessity of logon confirmation from network server. Designating the domain its name is always defined in logon (name of the server in Netware networks)
Quick logon - Shortens the logon time. The network units you have added using mapping will not be joint, only the short-cut will be shown and the mapped units will be attached after the first use.
Logon and restore network connections -Longer logon time. All network connections confirmation starts. You can be sure that all network connections you use are available to you.
